I first saw this movie/documentary about “THE FIREMAN” Jim Dunn at a Drive-in Movie in the early 80’s. This movie follows this Legendary Lope Racer around the country during 1970 when he domenated the Funnycar class with his innovative rear engine relate drive 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. This type of setup was several decades ahead of it’s time and now the main discontinue of all Top Fuel Dragster’s today. This film also contains footage of then very young Mike Dunn jog racing his bicycle in parking lots and he even dropped a cute as he eliminated the competition. Mike Dunn drives a Top Fuel Dragster today and his dad Jim Dunn is collected an Owner/Crew Chief of a Top Fuel Funnycar Team. Jim Dunn is probably one of the most over looked Legends in Lumber Racing today. If you want a film that documents this Legendary Hump Racer in his hay day then you’ll want this movie.

Just like the previous person. I also saw this at a miniature theatre in Illinois when unprejudiced 5 or 6. I grew up at a local dragstrip (BYRON.) And witnessed “Snakes” and “Mongoose’s” cars.

Plus all the others in the video. I mentioned the film to my father in unhurried August and asked if he remembered taking me and my brother to glimpse it. He distinct did. He loved taking me and my brother to the races. My father and I calm succor the races together. I esteem it. My mother found this film on your region(AMAZON.co) and had to prefer it for me for Christmas. Was I surprised. I have watched it three times already. Awesome! I wish I was a limited older in those days. All I remember is the awesome paint jobs on cars like the Hawaiian and Showtime. Also the Army Tank Wheelstander. Thank-you in helping me relive my childhood.

This is the best sounding 5.1 channel DVD that I have heard so far! The thunderstorms sound like the trusty thing and the dialog is always crisp and determined. This disc includes both widescreen and plump hide versions of the movie. Unfortunately, there aren’t any capable special features on this disc (thats why only 4 stars instead of 5) . I would have liked to have seen some slow the scenes info. This film has aesthetic visual effects and it would be nice to scrutinize the computer art gurus in action! Even without special features, this disc is worth the money. It will squeeze every tumble of performance out of your home theater!

Probably the best exertion movie made about tornadoes/twisters. The special effects were really curious if you can overlook the unsuitable scenes enhanced for dramatic conclude. It was a trustworthy balance between the narrative and the action. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton were really salubrious - actually the whole cast was incredible.

I admire Howard Hawks’ films…Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, Red River, and Rio Bravo are improbable pieces of entertainment. As I was watching Australia, the modern Baz Luhrmann movie with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, I kept thinking…man, Baz must really savor Hawks’ movies, too.

As evidenced by the films above, the mismatched couple who fight and fight until they realize they’re perfect for each other (view Powerful Ado About Nothing, Taming of the Shrew, and Moonlighting as other examples of the get) and the group of underestimated misfits who near together to fight detestable are two gigantic elements old again and again by Hawks. Throw in a bit of John Ford’s The Searchers and its hard watch at racism leading to inhuman deeds and mix well and you have…Australia.

This, I feel, is the flip-side to The Shaded Knight. Marvelous and tainted are trapped in something akin to a battle and an embrace in Nolan’s Gotham City. You root for Batman, but he does stuff that is on the nefarious side of freedom and civil rights. The Joker is pure crazy, but he’s the most mesmerizing character in the film. In Australia, there are great guys and poor guys and you are either really obedient or twirl your mustache nasty. The main villain actually may be a bit too two-dimensional in that aspect, but it didn’t distress my overall enjoyment.

Why? Well, tale melodrama is hard to pull off…I’m talking about the loyal stuff here. The fresh BBC production of Bleak House is a astronomical example. There are very worthy and very, very poor people in that myth, but the acting is so wonderful you rarely if ever find yourself rolling your eyes (like whenever I’ve watched Smallville…see: unpleasant memoir melodrama) . Kidman and Jackman sell their characters…the displaced Englishwoman and the rough-hewn “Drover”. They are thrown together honest to, initially it seems, thwart a inferior cattle baron from monopolizing the beef industry in the country. But the other broad chronicle, the main one in fact, centers around Australia’s “lost generation”. These were Aboriginal children who were fathered by white men who didn’t claim them. They were taken by the government, the mothers had no rights, and handed over to the church to be taught to “act white” and then work in the servant class. Nullah, played by the improbable child actor Brandon Walters, is one of these “creamies” who has been hidden on the ranch now owned by Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman) . Lady Ashley discovers what is going on, is afraid by the law, and works to sustain him hidden as well. Why the Drover cares so powerful about Nullah becomes obvious later in the film (no, it’s not what you reflect…that would be too easy) and Jackman’s experience with stage and musical work does him proud here. He can do earnest better than almost any actor alive when he needs to and his later spend of the f-word (the only curse I can remember from the entire film) hits so hard, in unbiased the factual emotional moment, that it kills. Russell Crowe was originally cast as the Drover but backed out. If Crowe had done the film, and I have liked him in other things…the Napoleon-era British navy film that I can’t remember the name of lawful now, it would not have worked. Crowe never loses that bit of edge and the Drover, at one point, really has to fully shatter down and become completely vulnerable. Jackman shines at that point.

Anyway…a warning, the movie is long 2 hours and 40something minutes, but I didn’t realize that until I had left the theater. I saw it alone…I was out of town at a pediatrics meeting…and that’s a advantageous thing. I didn’t have to camouflage from Holly the few times the movie hit me a bit too hard and do that cough-throat clearing thing we dudes do to screen up a stray glide.

I was looking forward to seeing this movie when it was release tedious last year given all the hype, and was not dissappointed!

Director, Baz Luhman, has served up a slab of nostalgia ala Australian style with all those graceful elements we appreciate from films of the 40’s and 50’s, breathtaking, sweeping landscapes, lovely costumes and two elegant actors in Kidman and Jackman who gain the essence of the film. It nostalgia in every sense of the word, in every frame. The acting style reminds us of Bogart, Grant, Bacall and Dunne. The myth is record in every arrangement and honest exquisite. I loved the salute to “The Wizard of Oz”a really nice touch!

Of course we all know how it’s going to raze. Watching Australia was like eating a box of Quality Street chocolates. Definite I know what I’m getting, but I serene fancy it.

For those of you who want to exhaust a few hours (and I mean a few; it’s almost 3 hours) being completely entertained then thisis the movie for you. I only wished they had inserted an interval on it’s theatrical release and made the whole event at the movies a sincere nostalgic experience.

I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t like this movie, unless you fair aren’t up for a feel superior portray. I want to recognize more movies being made like this!!!! Well done to all!!!

My well-liked (hard to acquire) episode this season is probably the two piece “Sons of Screech” that introduces Trent Molloy to the outstanding cast of characters. Episodes like this are the reason why the point to lasted 8 seasons, and could probably have lasted beyond Bonanzas’ 12 years on the air.

The outstanding artwork that graces the inside of the disc cases of Walker beside his horse unprejudiced cement the relationship between Walker and classic westerns.

This is it, finally season four has arrived. A legal joy for those who be pleased Walker, Texas Ranger for its ridiculous nature. Season four gives us the gems “Swan Song”, “Higher Power”, “Heart of the Dragon”, “Ghost Rider”, “Codename: Dragonfly”, and “Cyclone”. A long list for episodes labeled “gems”, I know, however they all truly deserve the distinction. “Swan Song” sees Walker struggle for survival in the mountains of Utah, as he fights an overprotective mother believe and wrestles a flesh-eating cyclops (Not kidding) . “Cyclone” may, however, be the most far-fetched episode of Walker, Texas Ranger ever produced (despite Swan Song’s more than valorous anxiety) . To be brief, Walker fights a tornado. Wow. “Ghost Rider” reminds us that Walker was raised on a Cherokee Reservation and “Higher Power” provides a hilarious Norris slant on eastern philosophy.

The remaining episodes are, for the most share, your typical Walker. But no other season is packed as beefy of top notch Walker.

EN LA PUTA VIDA is a very well made, polished, bright film from Uruguay that begins as what seems to be a comedy and develops into a lively drama - great the device events in life mimic such changes. Director and co-writer Beatriz Flores Silva knows her scheme around tough subject matter and is able to bring out first-rate performances by a very resplendent cast.

Elisa (the very handsome and talented Marianna Santangelo) is a hairdresser with two children, born of different fathers, who lives with her mother while trying to convince her latest paramour Garcia (Augusto Mazzarelli) to leave his wife and marry her. She dreams of having her gain Salon in the rich district of Montevideo and will cessation at nothing to effect her goal. When her life falls apart and she is desperate to invent enough money to commence her Salon, she is invited into the world of expeditiously money (prostitution) by her best friend Lulu (Andrea Fantoni), and enters the tutelage of Madame Dona Jacqueline (a terrific cameo by Graciela Esuder!) . In her novel role Elisa encounters the comely but wily Placido (played by Silvestre) who invites her to bed and to Barcelona, Spain with promises that she will construct so noteworthy money that she not only will be able to send money wait on to her children, but also have more than enough to commence her Salon in the fanciest fragment of her native Montevideo. Elisa and Lulu join other prostitutes in this promise of wealth and glide to Barcelona - and unexpected white slavery. There she works her corner but is in the presence of a gang of Brazilian transvestites controlled by a mob. She is arrested by a policeman-with-heart Marcelo (the very sparkling and gifted actor Jose ‘aka Josep’ Linuesa) and when her ‘man’ Placido reveals himself for what he is (a greedy, heartless pimp), Elisa works with Marcelo to advise the mob violence of the streets to pick up a return to her beloved Montevideo. How the narrative ends is left to the pleasure of the viewer.

Apparently this tale is based on some degree of fact: in the 1980s to the note many Latin American women have been promised wealth in joining the prostitution business in Spain only to become victims of white slavery. Director Silva is able to perform this rather unsightly reality into a record that, though sensual, is never in poor taste: the chronicle is more valuable that portraying the sex-for-sale scenes. Mariana Santangelo is a very radiant actress and this film is unbiased the factual vehicle to attach her in the ranks of international stardom. The photography in both Uruguay and Spain is blooming, the musical come by is exceedingly well written and evocative, and the waste result is a film that opens the door for Uruguayan films to be taken seriously. Highly recommended.

Direction, acting, music, photography, everything in this uruguayan movie works together to conform a minute work of art. Comely and unusual interpretations of Uruguayan tango as background music, very honorable actors and beneficial photography with plenty of close-ups. I highly recommend it, regardless of whether the subject interests you. If you be pleased great cinema, go for it.

“Castle in the Sky” is a masterpiece of one of Japan’s finest filmakers. There is a simple artistry to Miyazaki’s stories. This is a children’s film, but it is in the tradition of children’s stories that appeal to all ages. A rare, pure fantasy, the film has the same magic as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” and other early Disney films.

I first saw this movie when it was released in US theaters as “Laputa the Floating Island.” The mythical floating island of Laputa is taken from Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels.” Like Swift, Miyazaki cloaks a political statement with a fantasy, giving deeper meaning to his epic. Environmentalism has always been central to his films, and “Castle in the Sky” is no exception.

Visual, the film is a literal flight of treasure. Considerable of the film takes set in the air. Air pirates depart in unwieldy flying machines. Giant dirigibles glide the skies. Disappear by kite is an acceptable option. The animation is of the highest quality, as is the sound and acting.

The chronicle may seem familiar to followers of animation. Miyazaki also work briefly on the script of “Nadia: Secret of Blue Water” using some of the same concepts. The record was also adapted by Disney as their film “Atlantis,” sending the characters underground instead of up to the sky. However, “Castle in the Sky” is the epic in it’s recent, best invent.

I cannot recommend this film enough.

More than four years ago I rented the VHS tape of Kiki’s Delivery Service, and there was an ad for Castle in the Sky before it. It was listed as “coming soon.”

Since then, I’ve gotten the Japanese version of Castle in the Sky on DVD, and I admire it. However, I’m collected baffled by the fact that Disney has paid professional actors to drawl the characters and gotten the film prepared for release in the US — even advertised it — and has since then honest sat on it.

It’s almost criminal to absorb such enormous films as Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and Pon Poko in your possession and not portion them with the English speaking world.

If and when they spy the error of their ways and design this film available, do yourself a favor and win it. We need to let the media juggernauts know how remarkable we fancy Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

When I first read about the Deluxe Edition, I belief the heed would be around $50 like most other Deluxe Edition DVDs out there. At $95, this is blueprint too distinguished for what they’re offering. Yes, you procure all this:

- 60-page book with rarely seen photographs and production notes from the movie

… but unless they are signed by at least one Beatle, I wouldn’t pay that great. Yes, Richard Lester’s annotated script is sizable, but wait awhile and you’ll probably come by a reproduction online sometime. The lobby cards and poster are large, but those are not the main reasons for the tag inflation. The 60 page book would seem to be the main reason for the imprint hike, but glimpse at other Beatles books out there. The paperback version of The Beatles Anthology has 368 pages, weighs 2.2 pounds, and has over 1,300 photographs. The tag? LESS THAN A THIRD of what this Deluxe Edition of Aid is going for.

Yes, all these extras are nice, but it’s not worth the designate, and I’m a vast Beatles nut who buys everything they fabricate. At this moment, I’m going to select the regular edition which has been restored with large narrate and a 5.1 soundtrack. Plus, the second disk has immense extras (could be better if they had Paul or Ringo commenting) that will suffice. Especially for the label.

Drop the notice on this Deluxe Edition, guys. If you do that, people will capture.

This was the first Beatles film I saw. From the first minutes of the film I was zigzag! I became an instant Beatle fan.

A religious cult is after Ringo because he is in possession of thier sacrificial ring. There are several failed attempts to derive the ring: stealing it at night as he sleeps, grabbing it when he posts a letter, the elevator scene, getting the ring at a restaurant and even sawing around his drum station so he will drop through to the basement as the Beatles characterize “You’re Gonna Lose That Girl”. Despite these failures, Clang (Leo McKern), the cult leader, is more certain than ever to gather the ring from Ringo!

Ahme (wonderfully played by Eleanor Braun), a priestess of the cult is secretly working with the Beatles to support them out of harms method.

Added to the mix are two bumbling scientists Professor Foot and Algernon (Victor Spinetti and Roy Kinnear respectively), and a Scotland Yard superintendent played by Patrick Cargill. To Cargill everything is “well-known” (the noted Ringo, eminent Beatles, famed idea) .

John, Paul, George and Ringo are all charming as ever. The settings bustle from England, to the ski slopes of Austria to the Bahamas.

There are so many comic things in this movie that you can’t fair sight it one time and pick up them all.

The soundtrack to this movie is awesome: “Assist!”, “The Night Before”, “I Need You”, “Another Girl”, “You’re Gonna Lose That Girl”, “You’ve Got To Mask Your Fancy Away”, “She’s A Woman” and “Sign To Race”.

It’s such a shame that MPI is no longer producing this movie. I truly hope another distributor will be able to gather the rights so it will once again be available.

It is well worth the effort of hunting a copy of this movie down because everything about it is timeless.

I’m amazed that the engaging film “Charlotte’s Web” is almost thirty years musty, but it’s as fabulous today as when it was released (1973) and the production values equal those that we mediate children’s films by even today. This movie is the only inspiring version of E.B. White’s unique by the same name (c. 1952) that I’ve found. The fresh was a 1953 John Newbery Honor book (not the 1st-place prize, the “Newbery Medal” but one of the runners-up) . Hanna-Barbera produced a faithful rendering of the new, which is one of the reasons for the film’s success.

Another reason for the enduring popularity of this VHS is the quick-witted casting of vow talent. The chief characters’ voices are played by some of America’s most prolific actors of the early 1970s, including Rex Allen, Paul Lynde, Agnes Moorehead, Debbie Reynolds, Henry Gibson, and Pamelyn Ferdin. Don’t remember some of these people? Here are some reminders:

The gradual Rex Allen (narrator) was the quintessential dispassionate narrator of so many Walt Disney nature specials and made many early movies; slack comedian Paul Lynde (rat), who is the only Templeton I can ever imagine as he’s the only actor I contemplate has mastered the art of the “verbal sneer,” had his believe variety show; the behind Agnes Moorehead (goose), played Endora the witch on the “Bewitched” series and had parts in over 70 feature films; tiresomely-perky Debbie Reynolds (Charlotte), known for movie musicals and dancing, is fairly inoffensive in this movie, even during the relatively brief vocal numbers; Henry Gibson (Wilbur), is a comedian whom you’ll remember from the TV series “Laugh-In”; and Pamelyn Ferdin (Fern), who must have had direct lessons after she did the scream of Lucy Van Pelt in “You’re a Safe Man, Charlie Brown” (what, 1969? ) and before she participated in this project–somehow she lost the “scream” that makes her so distinguishable– (Remember Pamelyn? You can also easily assume her out in an dilapidated original-series “Star Streak” episode in which she plays a SCARY child named Mary! Sorry, I’m off the subject.)

There’s so grand to savor about this film. I always laugh at the scene in which the goose encourages Wilbur to thunder for the first time and he grunts/oinks and then stammers, “W-w-w-w-w-w-Wilbur! ” (Overlook that he immediately discovers that not only can he talk, but he can Shriek!) Gibson’s portrayal of Wilbur, the timorous, queasy, litle-bit-naive young pig is very endearing, but his yelp isn’t as distinctive as that of other actors of that era (George Lindsey, for example) . If someone ever re-makes “Charlotte’s Web,” their greatest obstacle to honest success will be replacing Paul Lynde, the ideal Templeton.

Even though this film is so “dilapidated,” I contemplate it was former as casting inspiration by CBS/Endemol when they selected George Boswell for “Astronomical Brother.” My celebrated scene is an exchange between Mrs. Zuckerman and her husband as they discuss the meaning of Charlotte’s first spiderweb message. Edith: “Seems to me you’re a small off; seems to me we have no ordinary spider.” Homer: “No, it’s fair a well-liked grey spider. Peek? It’s sittin’ factual there.” If “Charlotte’s Web” is made into a live-action film, BB’s George would be ideal for the role of dim-witted, understated Homer Zuckerman. George even looks like the cartoon character!

On a more serious heed, Charlotte’s straightforward attitude about her approaching death offers an opportunity to talk with children about death. This movie also presented my first chance to talk with my son (almost 4) about where meat comes from. When the Arabels discuss Wilbur being turned into bacon and ham, my boy was quite exciting. He seemed jumpy, but so far hasn’t refused to eat meat!

So if you don’t already have a copy of “Charlotte’s Web,” capture this video before it’s taken out of circulation; it’s a gem you’ll want in your collection. Need a memorable birthday or holiday gift for a child? You can’t go putrid with a classic movie, and this is definite to be a favorite–as you will be if you give “Charlotte’s Web” to a lucky boy or girl.

The role of Fern Arable, the young girl who saves the baby Wilbur, is played with knowing innocence by Pamelyn Ferdin. The glowing glean by the Sherman Brothers perfectly enhances the record. This is one of those childhood movies you never seem to outgrow. A exact family favourite.

This is a beautifully directed movie, by important director Sogo ISHII. But it is definitely NOT an “action packed yarn” as described by Amazon. And the fight scenes are unusually and imaginatively depicted, but they are not “unbelievable” in the usual sense. In short, this is not an action movie nor is it a weak samurai or martial arts film. It is really a metaphysical fantasy film. “Gojoe” is to samurai films as “Blueberry” is to westerns.

I am annoyed that it is getting bad reviews by people who were expecting some sort of Wu-Tang Baby Cart Master Killer blood and guts actioner. But it’s not their fault that this film is incorrectly marketed.

People who will delight in this movie:

- fans of director Sogo Ishii’s slower paced films, e.g. “Angel Dust”

- fans of other foreign cinema especially Japanese cinema, e.g. Rashomon (although I would never claim it is in the same league as such a classic)

- those who like cerebral, beautifully shot films

- people with an interest in Japanese mythology or Shinto, but okay with it addressed on an obviously simplified level

People who are looking for the following should avoid this movie:

- action (though there is some)

- rapid pace

- linear story

- everything spelled out and explained

- humor

- romance

The high points of this film include the heavenly imagery, intense slow-burn acting of Daisuke RYU as Benkei, splendid performances by all the supporting cast, pleasing nifty costumes, a really awesome climax.

Oddly enough, I found Tadanobu ASANO, who I usually admire, to be only so-so in this film. Maybe it was his awful hair.

The reason I give this film only a 4 is that it really is a bit long. Nonetheless, Media Blasters did do the true thing by including the stout international version, instead of the crop version.

The DVD features are gigantic, with both the fresh Japanese dialogue, nicely done subtitles, an English dub track, and some nice “making of” featurettes.

This is an inspiring, recent film but only for the legal audience.

i dont understand what there isnt to bag about the film or what not to like. the cinamatography is awesome, the storie station is one of the better, more fresh ive seen in a while, i dont understand what the pickle other people sight with its special effects; the blood hasten was gigantic and realistic, not computer generated like in the modern zatoichi film. i only had one qualm with the film and everything else really makes up for it; some scenes are grainy like they missed something in the editing process, but its nothing i acquire against the film greatly. i rented it from blockbuster and have been thinking about buying unprejudiced so i could add it to my collection. p.s. it’s good people with ADD shouldn’t be critics
